AJAX Register

A new version of AJAX Register has been released. This version brings tighter integration with Joomla 3 optimising the appearance for latest Joomla version and implementing some of its core features. Some of them being drag-and-drop reorder for items, support for captcha plugins, ACL permissions for administration and support for one-click updates.

Read on for details on what's new in AJAX Register 3.5.

reCaptcha 2.0

Google has introduced a new, improved version of reCaptcha, which is much easier to solve while still keeping the bots at bay. AJAX Register now supports this new reCaptcha 2.0.
If you use reCaptcha 1.0 with AJAX Register you can switch to 2.0 in settings, but note that you may need to create new API keys because global keys are no longer supported by Google.

reCaptcha 2.0

AJAX Register now also supports Joomla captcha plugins. So, if you activated Joomla's native reCaptcha plugin for user registration it will work in AJAX Register by default. However, we recommend that you use our reCaptcha implementation. Deactivate captcha in users configuration and configure it in AJAX Register to get better integration, with asyncronous validation (without page refresh) and better positioning in the registration form.

ACL Permissions

ACL (Access Control List) permission system for Joomla administration has been implemented now. So you, as SuperUser, can decide which admin group has access to what in AJAX Register. For example, you can allow Administrators to see and edit extra fields but not add new fields or delete them.

Supported actions are: config, manage, create, edit, delete, edit.state and export as a custom action. By default, only SuperUser is allowed to export users and their extra fields to CSV.

Auto-generate passwords

A nice feature added to this version of AJAX Register is an option to skip password request on registration. In that case a password will be generated automatically upon registering and sent to the user by email.

This is particularly useful if you don't want to risk users creating weak passwords which would be easy to guess by a hacker. Using this feature you can be sure that each user is having a strong password.

Joomla updater

From now on, you can use Joomla updater system to check for updates and update AJAX Register with one-click without leaving the site.
The updates will be listed in Extension Manager > Update in your Joomla administration.

AJAX Register updater

To be able to update you will need to enter a unique Update ID to AJAX Register configuration. You will get your Update ID on purchase or whenever you request a link for download. One-click updates are convenient and will make your updates in future a breeze.

Optimisation for Joomla 3

As announced earlier, we ended development for Joomla 2.5 which allowed us to focus on latest Joomla version for this realease. So, we optimised the appearance for Joomla 3 and added all features for administration which you are probably used to and take as granted.

AJAX Register extra fields list

Apart from all optimisations, ACL, integrated updater, support for captcha plugins etc., we also implemented drag-and-drop reordering of items, advanced filtering and search, as well as various cosmetic fixes which will make your experience more intuitive in Joomla 3 environment.

Bug fixes and improvements

We also fixed some small bugs in this release. One of which being a need to click twice on Submit button when a non-required date field is published and a problem with empty user group on registration.

New configuration options for export settings have been added for your convenience. They will define what is pre-selected on the export screen so you don't have to change it each time you export the users to CSV file.
