AJAX Register feature recommendation

14 years 4 months ago #5881 by Saka
Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion, it might as well be implemented. However, I don't think that's bot registrations, it might be real humans registering for spam purposes and no captcha can help there, only manual approval. That's what happens on this forum every day. Have a look on my blog post: www.sakic.net/blog/forum-spam/

Thanks! I would agree with you about malicious manual registers however it seems since January 4th a lot of people are noticing a spike in SPAM registrations on their forums, as seen in the Google Captcha forum. I know it won't stop the manual registrations but I do think in the past few days captcha has been cracked (for now).

It would be nice to have the option of using SQUIGL-PIX and/or ESP-PIX as well but I know that's a bigger upgrade to your app. Thanks for listening!

Didn't know about reCaptcha being cracked. If it's true I'm sure Google will tap the hole though.

Will have in mind adding some more Captcha options for future versions.

Thank you.

Any idea on when you might add this recommendation to AJAX Register? This hole in reCaptcha is driving me crazy! Thanks as always!

To tell you the truth I am currently busy making new versions for all extensions for Joomla 1.6. I can implement this when it's AJAX Register turn. Why not use built-in captcha in the meantime?

Understood totally Emir, waiting patiently.  ;) It looks like Google updated their reCaptcha code yesterday, now some words are white with black outlines. Hopefully that will slow down the BOTS for now.
