There should be no problems. ionCube has loaders for PHP 5.2. The latest loaders are 3.1.34.
It works fine on elwalker's site now. Just checked: http://www.adventure-cornwall.co.uk/news/

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong server.  I am running Ioncube version 3.1.34 with Zend Optimizer 3.3.9.

What version of Zend Optimizer is on http://www.adventure-cornwall.co.uk/news ?

Zend Optimizer v3.3.3
Check the ionCube forum if you think there are issues with v3.3.9.

My host has said that

"Hello,

It looks like this component doesn't like the latest version of the Zend Optimizer.  We have temporarily reverted to an older version for you - see if this is working for you now.

Kind Regards,

Support"

it has since allowed access to my home page but doesnt allow access to any other pages! seems like problem is indeed with the component...

We are waiting on answer from ionCube guys, if their loaders might be incompatible with Zend Optimizer v3.3.9: http://forum.ioncube.com/viewtopic.php?t=2814
We will try to track down the problem.

Hi Saka,

I'm having this exact same problem. My host said it was Advanced SEF and fixed the issue temporarily by down-grading the servers ZEND version to 3.3.3. They said it would need to get fixed as they need to eventually upgrade the ZEND software...

I'm using Joomla 1.0.15 and an old version of Advanced SEF - 5.81 to be exact.

Will url structures be te same when I upgrade to 6.01?

Cheers for the help.

RJP1: Again: the problem is not in SEF Advance, it is in ionCube, the software used for encoding SEF Advance. It looks like it has some conflict with latest Zend Optimizer under some conditions. Upgrading SEF Advance won't help until this has been investigated.

So please someone send me the access to a site where you get this error because neither I nor ionCube guys can replicate it.

Ah right, well as I said the server I'm running has been downgraded to zend 3.3.3 and the error has gone... what can I do to help? Do you want to talk to the server owners? They're very technically minded (I guess they have to be to own a hosting company!)

Cheers, RJP1

Looks like we got the solution in latest ionCube loaders (3.3.2): http://forums.zend.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=2424#p14373

Please download the latest loaders (6/11) from http://www.ioncube.com/loaders.php and test.

This is not the same issue. You just don't have rights to execute separate PHP files and must fix this in permissions. Read the FAQ: http://www.sakic.net/support/faq/ajax_scroller/#0

Related to the same probelm posted by me here http://www.sakic.net/forum/sef_advance/sef_advance_generate_500_internal_server_error-t1247.0.html ,
I did your instructions in order to update the ioncube loader at the latest version and this activity is gone correctly.

But in the PHP information I see the same version.
This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine:
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2009 Zend Technologies
with the ionCube PHP Loader v3.3.1, Copyright (c) 2002-2009, by ionCube Ltd., and
with Zend Optimizer v3.3.9, Copyright (c) 1998-2009, by Zend Technologies
with Suhosin v0.9.29, Copyright (c) 2007, by SektionEins GmbH

Why ?  What's the reason ?

Probably the old version of ionCube loaders is installed in php.ini. Talk to your host to upgrade the loaders.
