Ajax Scroller
« on: 06 August 2011, 01:37 »
Hi Saka,

I've been going though the settings and haven't had any success on getting the articles to scroll. I have a total of 7 articles and regardless of the settings it doesn't scroll. The page is validating and I have all compression disabled.

Only the last article in the category is displaying. I'm using a template with the Gantry framework and I'm wondering if it might be conflicting with your module.

I don't have the website published as yet but if you need to look just let me know what level of administration you need and I'll set you up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to take the site any further till I have this corrected.

Thanks
Den

First, make sure that your settings are correct. Set "Nr. of items displayed" to 1 and "Max number of items" to 0 (no limit).

Then check this FAQ: http://www.sakic.net/support/faq/ajax_scroller/#0

If the navigation buttons don't show and auto-play doesn't work you might have a JS error or conflict on your site. Check with Firefox and Firebug if this is the case. Your site must be clear of JS errors before publishing AJAX Scroller. Also, if your template doesn't load Mootools you have option to include it with the module. But you must not include it twice. If your template uses jQuery JS framework it will have to be implemented in no-conflict mode.

Thanks for the quick reply. The only settings I changed in the module configuration was selecting the category, horizontal and auto play features. The rest is default.

I had checked the CHMOD settings and also Firebug didn't show any java script errors. There are no references to jQuery in the page code or in Firebug. I also check the site with Explorer 7 and it didn't display any errors. The module does show the navigation buttons in the original module but not when using the styleID.css which I'm not using right now as I'm just trying to get it up and running. I do however plan on using multiple Ajax Scroller modules on several sites if we can get the bugs out...

I have Joomla 1.7 and use the latest version of JCE and MediaBox also I use the Nebulae template with the Gantry framework. Everything seem to be functioning normally. I just haven't been able to find any reason for the Ajax scroll module not to work.

Have to see the module online before I can tell anything more. So please send the URL.

There is a JS error when you click on next. Try loading the mootools version that comes with Joomla and not the YUI-compressed version from Joomla API. Also try with some other Joomla template.

Ok I've disabled the Google AJAX Libraries and changed the default template to Juxta.

Please take a look at it now. The module is still isn't working.

Thanks

Try with default Joomla template please. I have few ideas what it could be but guessing game will not lead us far. So please send the admin password and FTP info and I will do some tests.

Ok I've set the default template to Beez and I'll set you up with an account and email it over.

Thanks

Thanks, fixed it, it should be fine now.

For some reason mootools-more.js was included after the AJAX Scroller javascript on your site. I added some code to ensure it's loaded before it.

Thanks Emir,

It's working good now. I have ran into a problem with the templates though. I'm not able to change the default template. It's stuck on the Beez5.

I've cleaned the cache on Joomla and my browsers but it still won't update.

Any ideas?

That got it! Thanks Emir. I'll start another website in a couple of weeks and hopefully we won't have to do this again.

Is there anything I need to know about what you had to do? Did you have to change the core or when I update will I loose your changes?

I also noticed that the ascending and descending order in the Content Specific Settings are not changing - only random as they read the article order backwards.

I like the YouTube video feed you have on your sample page. What software did you use? Is it possible to link it up to my YouTube Channel?

Hi Saka,

Listen I had a conflict with the fusion menu and had to restore the site back to before you hacked the code. If you would let me know what files were edited and I'll restore the site long enough to retrieve the files.

Although the Ajax scroller worked well it caused a css problem where the fusion menu went behind the logo. I tinkered with it all day but with no success. Your forum was down so I just restored it back a couple of days.

Just download the latest version from my site and reinstall it. It will have necessary changes.
