CB pagination not working with CB_ext_sef
« on: 24 April 2007, 12:31 »
Hi

I use your CB sef extension which is great! But there is a small problem. Pagination on profile pages does not seam to work with this. On the forum tab it is possible to have pagination if there is a lot of forum posts. One can set for example 10 post per page. But clicking on another page reloads the page but do no not change the page. It always reloads page 1.

Hope this can be solved since this is a very useful add-on.

Regards,
thoeri

Hi

I never give access to the site to anyone. I hope you understand this. Most people will not do that, I think. But you probably have a test site with CB since you were able to write the file. Then it will probably b the same problem there.

Thomas

I have but access to particular problem would make it much faster than trying to replicate the problem myself given insufficient info (I have to install forum (which forum btw), make the posts, populate the database etc etc).

Hi

I have CB 1.02 and JB 1.04 (even though the version number doesn't matter - the JB plugin/tab comes default in the CB).

In the tab setting one can set how many post to show on each page. Set for examle five and write six post in JB. Then watch the tab from front end and try to click page 2 in the bottom of the forum tab.

OK, I added support for JoomlaBoard Tab pagination. Download the latest version of the extension on the extension page.

Hi again

I uploaded the extension but unfortunately it does not work. There was a difference in the URL so I really thought it should work but it didn't.

With the old extension the url was.
/medlem/testmedlem/getforumtab/

Now it is:
/medlem/testmedlem/getforumtab/20/ (and so on /30/ for page 3)

But still I always end up on the first page after reload.

Cheers,
Thomas

PS You should probably also prepare for the new FireBoard forum. You probably already know that FireBoard is taking over JoomlaBoard. The Beta version is out now and it is just utterly awesome. It brings all the missing features to the forum component. And addresses all the problems of JoomlaBoard. No need to use SMF or other seperate forums.

It worked fine for me on latest CB and latest JB. Try viewing your own posts.
I will have another look for posts of others.

Hi again

Did you manage to fix this? I also have the same problem with Nants CB_gallery tab.

I fixed it for CB plugin tab. Download the latest version of the SEF Advance extension from the extensions page.

Regarding the tab for Nants CB_gallery, I hope you understand I can't keep adding support for any possible CB plugin that exist out there. I generally don't make extensions for any 3rd party component but I made and exception and created extension for Community Builder, unsupported, mainly because this is a popular component. It works fine and supports out of the box installation of CB.
I realize there are plugins for CB but to suppot even them is taking too much time (especially when I have to replicate the environment locally). If anyone needs additional plugin support etc. I am happy to help but then I must charge a fee for custom programming.

Thanks for understanding.

Hi,

great. I understand that you can't support all kind of components and plug-ins. I just thouht that you would like to know bugs and possible improvments since this can make you own product more attractive to buy and use. CB is of course a very common component and so is the cb gallery. Cb_gallery, the forum tab and profile book are made of the CB core developers and widely used.

I just hoped that there was a way to make the extension work on all tabs pagination - no matter of plug-in. If the extension wasn't encoded I might have been able to do adjustments to it to get it to work with my cb plug-ins. Except tab for the forum I use tab for cb gallery, cb profile book, mosTree listings. And it is annoying that the pagination doesn´t work. Is it necessary to have the encoding when it is a free extension? It might be a stupid question, so please do not be offended.

If there is no way to get pagination to work on my tabs I will most probably have to drop the extension. And that would be a shame. But I cannot have a site where the profile page doesn't work realle well.

I think SEF Advanced is a good product and I really hope there is a way to solve the paginations. Hope there is a way to get pagination to work on any tab no matter of plug in.

Cheers,
Thomas

I think it would be hard to make generic pagination for all plugins unless they follow some kind of pattern which I will have to take another look on.

That's questionable, it would again fall on me to support it. This is the only extension that I release encoded but I do my best to support it, even though I said I will not.

But, I understand your position and will try to find an universal solution.

Hi Emir

Sound good to me. Maybe there is a generic way. That would be the best for all parts.
