2  Products / SEF Advance / Issues with links to 3rd part components on: 03 August 2008, 23:39
Hi again Emir

I experience a lot of weird issues with SEF Advanced and some 3rd part components. I have major problems with Eventlist and Phoca Gallery.

When hovering the menu link for Eventlist I see this URL in the bottom left corner of my browser:
http://www.mydomain.com/activities/calendar/eventlist but when clicking the link the part http://www.mydomain.com is lost in the URL and I end up on a 404-page. I have the exact same problem with Phoca Gallery. Without SEF Advanced enabled the links work perfectly.

I also have an normal joomla content item called Boendeservice with this url from the menu:
http://www.mydomain.com/boende/boendeservice/. I used Custom component string to replace mtree=>boende.  This made the link mentioned above to stop working. When clicking the link for Boendeservice I ended up on the index page of Mostes tree insted of the content item. So I guess the two boende confused SEF Advanced. This I solved by changing string replacement to mtree=>boende-lista. Maybe that is normal behavior, I do not know. I though I ley you know anyway.

Bit the problem with Eventlist and Phoca Gallery cannot be normal behaviour. I use Joomla 1.5.5 and the trial version of SEF Advaced downloaded 3 or 4 days ago.

Thoeri

Hi Emir

I noticed a small bug. I tried to print a page but I got a 404 in the pop-up. I noticed that it was because there was a / in the title. Taking that away did the trick. Unfortunately I need this character in some titles. I tried to use replace but that would not work since the / is used a lot in an url:s. I can not use the alias either since it is on a news section and the site is build for a client that needs a very easy interface to add articles. This problem only seams to occur in IE6. I could live with this issue but I thought I'd tell you so that you are aware of this issue.

Thoeri

Hi Emir

Great. I will but the new version as soon as it is released. I think I found another bug also. On some pages the print function gives a 404 error. It seams to be depended on what characters used in the title of the item (I had a title with the characters , and /) and it looks like the problem only occurs in IE. I will test this further and get back to you as soon as possible. Maybe you can fix that also and include a fix in the next release.

Thoeri

Hi Emir

This is a fresh 1.5 installation. No migrations. The menu link is created the normal way, by choosing Internal link and Newsfeeds and Single feed layout. Then I choose the feed in the Basic Parametres. It works fine without SEF Advanced enabled.
This is how the non-sef links looks like: index.php?option=com_newsfeeds&view=newsfeed&id=1

And with SEF Advanced enabled I get the ending /boende in the URL. And that is a normal joomla content category and does not appear anywhere else on my installation.

Thoeri

Hi Emir

I downloaded the trial version for J 1.5 and I noticed a bug. I have a neewsfeed menu link where the URL get completely wrong. This is how the menu link looks like: index.php?option=com_newsfeeds&view=newsfeed&id=1. This is to show a single neewsfeed.

This is how the url looks like with SEF Advanced enabled: http://www.mydomain.com/newsfeed/boende.  And this is how it should look like: http://www.mydomain.com/news. Therefor I get a 404 page. I have no idea how "boende" can get into the url at all??? That is a normal Joomla content category and has nothing to do with the neewsfeed. But I noticed that the category id of that category (boende) is 1. And if you look again in the menu link fore the neewsfeed above you see that the id there is also 1. So, somehow SEF advanced are mixing up the catgory id of a normal joomla content category with the category id of the newsfeed.

I really hope that this bug can be solved quickly since I am about to go live with this customers site within a few days.

Best regards,
Thoeri

Hi Emir

Thank you for a quick reply. I see how you mean. Normally my replacements would not occur in normal words, but members can come up with the most innovating user names ;-). The good thing is that I can replace whole words. I think I can keep my most important links that way.

Thomas

Hi Emir

I experience a serious issue with cb and SEF Advanced. Recently a few members complained that they cannot see their profile page in CB on my site. The main body is just white. First I thought I got a corrupt database but after searching through it I came to the conclusion that this issue has to come from somewhere else. Then I turned SEF Advanced off and then I could see the member's profile page. Without SEF advanced I did not experience any problems.

Then I saw that one of the members with this issues have username saraa. I replace the swedish characters å, ä and ö with aa, ae and oe. Pretty standard. So, somehow, SEF advenced thinks this is a swedish å probably. But it is like a backward replacing. So I changed the replace characters for å, the aa to a-a. Then It worked!

I have no idea if this been an issue the whole time or if it came with one of the later versions of SEF Advanced.

Is is possible to solve and still keep the replacements aa, ea and oe. They are is a lot of very importants URL:s for me. I would be very sad if I had to do that!

Best regards,
Thomas

Problem solved

I do not sure if it is a pemanent or temporarily fix. I changed the setting:
Redirect non-SEF URLs: to No instead of Yes. Then it worked.

Hi emir

I think there is a serious issue with 5.5.7. I got severel e-mails that the confirmation link does not work. I tried to register myself and when clicking the confirmation link in the mail I don't get a confirmation. I get to a page telling me to regsiter as a member to view the page.
When clicking the link one can first see the confirmation code in the url but then as the page reloads and I get the SEF url, thats when it happens. The url is: http://www.mysite.com/krypin/confirm. I have in the config comprofiler=>krypin. That used to work before.

Please try to help as soon as possible.

Thoeri

Hi again

I just re-launched my site. I have been working on a clone site at a different URL. When I was satisfied I transfered all the files and the database tables to my live site. And on the other site these aliases works perfect! It is the same URL uses on my live site. The id always get id=0 when blogging more than one category in a section.

The only difference I am aware of is that the clone site uses an earlier version of SEF advanced.
