Ajax Register tool tips and confirmation message not showing

Hi, I just installed Ajax Register and the tool tips and confirmation message are not showing.

I'm using Joomla 1.7.4

from looking through the forum i thought it might js conflict so i installed Google AJAX Libraries with no change. so i am at a loss and any help will be appreciated. . .

You have JS errors. Please use built-in Mootools and disable jQuery until you know what exactly conflicts with what.

I'm not sure what the correct steps are to trouble shoot this issue.
I tried disabling jquery and turning Google AJAX Libraries control over mootools off, but nothing changed.

Can you give more specific instructions on how to find JS
 errors?

I have had too many complaints coming through our website due to the registration process not being clear, and I need to fix this issue ASAP. Otherwise I will need to look into other registration module/plugin options. . .
